We are currently recruiting for Facility / EH&S Officer at our Almere office in the Netherlands. The Facility / EH&S Officer will be responsible for the Environment, Health, and Safety (EH&S) on site, managing the company’s Emergency Response (BHV) team, ensuring the role of Prevention Officer is maintained, and overseeing day-to-day facility management operations.

This role is essential to maintaining a safe, efficient, and compliant work environment..

The ideal candidate will have 

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Facility Management, Environmental Health and Safety, or a related field.
• Relevant certifications in health and safety (e.g., OSHA, VCA) and emergency response (BHV) preferred.
• Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in facility management, health and safety, or a related role.
• Valid Dutch Prevention Officer certification (Prevention Officer) is a plus.
• Fluent in Dutch and English (written and spoken).
• In-depth knowledge of environmental, health, and safety regulations, particularly in the Netherlands.

• Working in pharma or food environment
• Selfstarter
• Strong organizational and teme management skills
• Effective leadership and communication abilities to manage a team of BHV responders and interact with employees at all levels.
• Ability to assess risks and develop preventive measures.
• Proficient in using facility management software and systems.
• Strong problem-solving and decision-making capabilities, particularly in emergencies.
• Familiarity with Dutch workplace health and safety laws and regulations.

Crisis management skills and the ability to stay calm under pressure.

What You'll Be Doing:

1. Facility Management Activities:

• Oversee general facility operations, including maintenance, repairs, and general upkeep of buildings, equipment, and grounds.
• Ensure that the facility is compliant with legal regulations related to environmental sustainability and workplace safety.
• Manage facility-related vendors and service contracts (e.g., cleaning, security, HVAC, etc.).
• Develop and manage the facility's annual budget and ensure cost-effective practices.
• Ensure proper maintenance of facility systems, including lighting, HVAC, and waste management.

2. Environment, Health, and Safety (EH&S):

• Implement and manage EH&S policies and programs to ensure a safe and healthy working environment for all employees.
• Conduct regular safety audits and inspections to identify potential hazards and ensure compliance with local and international safety regulations.
• Report on safety incidents and accidents, ensuring timely resolution and compliance with incident reporting standards.
• Organize and lead safety training programs for employees, ensuring everyone is aware of safety procedures and emergency protocols.
• Continuously evaluate and improve the workplace's safety performance.

3. BHV (Emergency Response Team):

• Serve as the Head of the BHV (Bedrijfshulp verlener) emergency response team.
• Coordinate emergency response plans and drills (including fire drills, evacuation procedures, and first aid).
• Maintain and update emergency response documentation, ensuring the facility is well-prepared for emergencies.
• Provide guidance and support to BHV members to ensure they are adequately trained and equipped.

4. Prevention Officer Responsibilities:

• Act as the designated Prevention Officer, identifying potential workplace hazards and taking preventive measures to minimize risks.
• Maintain and implement health and safety policies in line with Dutch regulations and company standards.
• Conduct regular safety meetings and communicate with management regarding any risks or safety concerns.

Work closely with external safety authorities to ensure full compliance with Dutch safety laws.
